All men shall die, but not all men’s stories shall die with them.
It’s not all men stories that shall be forgotten.
This is a tribute to the man who lived and died but changed the path through which his feet walked. This is a tribute to Steve Jobs…
Like any common child born ‘commonly’ with little or no advantage was Steve Jobs; in fact it was said that after which it became an open knowledge that Jobs was put up for an adoption to a willing parents by his unwed mother who was expecting to have a female child instead.
Also young Jobs had to drop out as a result of funding through school because it was too expensive, and according to him, back then he would return a coke bottle for 5 cents deposit for a meal, and on Sundays, he would have to walk across town for about 7 miles to get one good meal at least in a week at a temple.
This was the beginning of days of the man whose demise from life would be felt in every county and territory.
At age 20 did he meet his friend, Steve Wozniak, who they co-founded Apple together. Their coming together had a record of failures sandwiched in successes in managing Apple which shapened both their lives on an individual basis. For example, ”Woz” as his friend is called, had to leave Apple at a time when he was involved in a plane crash that led to his partial loss of memory, this eventually led to his total resignation from Apple in the process of time. He was approached to be asked of this, and he said he has got fulfilment in his new way of life which was devotion to a non-profit pursuit. However, Jobs remained with the Apple until he was ousted out of his own company in 1985, at 30, in a board meeting that generated a heated argument between him and John Sculley where the latter had him voted out, following the facts that Jobs knew Sculley not to have full understanding of the computer industry, for he was Pepsi Cola president.
Products of Apple included Apple I and II, Lisa, the Mac and so on hitherto his dismissal from Apple, but nevertheless I decided to dwell on what few things that made the great man Jobs whom he was. There are lessons one could learn from this man’s life for whoever wants to succeed. Here are few notable ones:
LESSON NUMBER ONE.
After every failure or breakdown, there is always a blessing or power to rise again if we yield to it.
This was Jobs’ experience in a statement after he was kicked out of Apple:
‘I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.’
Indeed every bitter experience has better and greater blessings around the corner! Note!
That statement was of truth because Jobs there and then went on to create 2 new companies (NeXTStep and Pixar) after leaving Apple, this same technology he used after he returned to Apple to make Apple the success it is till this day!
LESSON TWO
Entrepreneural spirit was also a mark of the unrelenting, resilient Jobs. Let me say a thing here: there is no point being impoverished and then accepting it as a fate. The biggest number of individuals having success in money in any nation are people raised in poverty or with little advantages of life who but learnt about how money worked and then mastered it. Jobs was raised in poverty, but he outgrew poverty, via negotiating his skill and zeal to forge ahead.
Any man’s initial failure, in money, public grace, etc should be the booster of his drive towards a formidable success story. To overcome penury, it’s a must-do to veer towards empowerment in whichever form to overcome it, legally, knowlegeably!
LESSON THREE
To succeed in life, let that man follow his heart, or his interest, or passion. Every true burning passion yet to be undertaken is a mine of fulfilment awaiting expression. One man said, ‘Do the thing you love, and money will follow.’ This is nothing but the truth!
This was the saying of Jobs along this line:
‘Sometimes life hits you in the head with a break. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work…’
(Forbes lists rated Jobs as 110th richest and 17th most powerful in the world on their lists of 2011 correspondently)
